Community Involvement

Gina has contributed to local organizations by promoting financial literacy to adults and children at locations such as Families First, and at Parent Association meetings.

Celebrate Brooklyn logo

Gina is a supporter of “Celebrate Brooklyn!”, one of New York City’s “longest running, free, outdoor performing arts festivals”. The event is designed to bring people together at Prospect Park, and has a record of attracting upwards of a quarter of a million people.


WFUV logo

Gina is a supporter of WFUV, a noncommercial, member supported, public radio station from Fordham University in New York. The station plays a collection of alternative music mixed with local news and sports, and has received national recognition for its collection of music, news and sports.


Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce logo

Gina is member of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce allows people to do business networking, connect with other community members and help Brooklyn’s business community grow. Members of the chamber automatically receive invitations to local events, networking opportunities, and events where members can discuss items to improve their community and the economy.


Park Slope Food Coop logo

Gina is a member of the Park Slope Food Coop (PSFC). PSFC was founded in 1973 by a group of people who wanted to make healthier food available to everyone and today there are 15,000 members. The Coop operates as a food store, and members contribute their labor and work together to support sustainable and non-exploit labor buying and selling of products.


Cobble Hill

Gina is a member and supporter of the Cobble Hill Association, a neighborhood association in Brooklyn. The association advocates improvements in the neighborhood and meets often to discuss new developments and support efforts to improve the neighborhood.


Brooklyn Bridge Park

Gina is a member of Brooklyn Bridge Park. As part of the park, Gina helps to advocate awareness of the Brooklyn Bridge Park through community outreach and events. There are also professional and volunteer groups available at the park, as well as tours and waterfront events.


Brooklyn Museum logo

Gina is a supporter of the Brooklyn Museum. The mission of the museum “is to act as a bridge between the rich artistic heritage of world cultures…and the unique experience of each visitor.” Their permanent collections explore Egyptian culture, African and European art, as well as period rooms and contemporary pieces. They host rotating, traveling exhibitions as well.


American Cancer Society logo

Gina is a supporter of The American Cancer Society (ACS). The ACS helps to fund research and programs in order “to save lives and create a world with less cancer.” The ACS has been working for over 100 years with supporters to help people get and stay well, find cures for all types of cancer and fight back against the spread of cancer.


The Beacon School logo

Gina is a supporter of The Beacon School in Manhattan, which her daughter also attends. The Beacon School uses an inquiry-based curriculum that surpasses standards set by the New York State Regents, and actively prepares students for college. They infuse passion for the arts through their programs and students must present performance based pieces annually while also passing state mandated testing. The Beacon School encourages a collaborative community environment that helps to nurture intellectual diversity.


New Voices School of Academic and Creative Arts

Gina was Director of the Board of New Voices School of Academic and Creative Arts, a middle school in New York. They are cited as one of the best in the state, and they are one of 10 middle schools that were selected as an Exemplary Site for Arts Education. The school offers education opportunities in various forms of art including visual arts, performance arts, music and theater.


LaGuardia High School

Gina is a frequent volunteer and supporter of the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art. LaGuardia High, students are taught fundamentals and skills in visual and performing arts, in addition to their fundamental general studies. Students audition for acceptance to the school, and often receive consideration for continuing opportunities post-graduation.

Gina is a supporter of The Cora School for Dance In Brooklyn. The school provides experiences and opportunities in the community that allow community members to experience a strong art influence and connection among a diverse group of like-minded individuals.


Brooklyn Botanic Garden logo

Gina is a supporter of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, which has grown from “…an ash dump in the late 1800s to…the very best in urban gardening and horticultural display” ( The BBG aims to inspire and educate people to the importance of conservation and enjoyment of plants.


Brooklyn Academy of Music logo

Gina is a supporter of the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM). The Academy showcases new and emerging artists, and provides programming in multiple specialties such as theater, opera, dance, music, film and more. Since their opening over 150 years ago, BAM has been engaging communities both locally and globally with programming in visual and performance arts.


Wildlife Conservation Society logo

Gina supports the Wildlife Conservation Society, founded in 1895. The WCS aims to save wildlife and wild places globally, and works in New York City through the management of five parks. Their efforts reach more than 60 countries and they have a strong influence on educating the public on issues affecting the wildlife population. They aim to address four key areas in conservation: climate change, resource exploitation, the connection between animal and human health, and sustainable development.
